Mysterious brotherhood? No, it's not that bad. In the Freemasonry Museum you will discover what Freemasonry really means. In this museum you will admire objects and works of art that show Dutch freemasonry through the centuries.

Freemasonry may sound a little mysterious, but in the Freemasonry Museum you'll discover what it really is. Freemasonry has existed in the Netherlands since 1734. The Order of Freemasons is a democratic association. Freemasonry stands for freedom of thought, equality and tolerance. Freemasons do not find differences of opinion annoying, but rather an enrichment! The purpose of Freemasonry is personal development - for yourself and to help the world around you.

Freemasonry Museum

In the Freemasonry Museum you can discover what Freemasonry means in practice. The collection gives an impression of Dutch freemasonry from the eighteenth century to the present day. See sheets of lap (a ritual garment), paintings, curiosities and masonic art. Here you step into a totally different world. In addition to the permanent collection, the exhibition Avontuur in Azië, vrijmetselarij (Adventure in Asia, Freemasonry as a Worldwide Network) has been on display since 1734 until April 2020.

Historical library

The historic library of the Order is one of the largest and most important freemasonry libraries in the world. This library is only accessible by appointment. Not only for study, but also for a first impression you are welcome.
